Flaking mills for the chemical industry.
Flaking mills are also used in preparatory processes for products in the chemical industry.
In this case the milling rollers are part of a crushing process. After crushing, the seeds are squeezed out with mechanical wringers releasing the oil. Unlike other extraction processes, no chemical products such as solvents are used in this process. It relies entirely on the principles of pressure and temperature.
Example applications
Oilseeds such as linseed, rapeseed and cottonseed are the main feedstock used here. Linseed has a high iodine value making it the fastest drying oil in the range of vegetable oils.
The largest areas of application for linseed oil are:
- Paint
- Printing inks
- Linoleum
- Putty
- Soaps
Another possible product is cottonseed oil, cleaned from gossypol, which is extremely useful for cosmetic products.
The Van Mourik Crushing Mills Flaking Mill can achieve the exact flake thickness required for this application, which is in the region of 0.25-0.28 mm.
